Grease Lightnin'

A couple weeks ago we had this awesome storm-- lightning from all directions. I'm terrified of lightning, but have always wanted to try and shoot it. I always find myself right in the middle of the storm with the rain pouring down around me... makes it very tricky to get any good shots. I went out for coffee with friends in the evening and when we were done, the storm had just barely passed us-- so I decided to try and catch some shots. So. much. fun. and so relaxing. It was just far enough away to get some cool shots without the fear of being struck down. I was having so much fun, I didn't get home until about 1:30am. I can't wait to go out again!

Asian Restaurant News

Asian Restaurant News Magazine contacted me (weird, I know!) and asked me to do a shoot of a Chinese restaurant here in town to be featured in their magazine. It sounded fun, so I thought, why not? I've never been so hungry after leaving a shoot...
The magazine will come out in September. Too bad I can't read Chinese.
Here are a few of the shots from the day. Yum!!!

(above) My favorite shot. How cool to bring the bill like this!

God gives me butterflies.

I love when God puts something beautiful right in front of my face. It makes my day. The flowers in front of our house were covered with these butterflies yesterday afternoon, so of course I had to shoot them. Boy, butterflies are beautiful from a distance, but once I got upclose and zoomed in a bit on the faces... creepy! Anyways, let me know which one's your favorite... thinking of entering one into the fair.

punkie pie

Jessica- 2 years old. Absolutely adorable. She actually loved having her picture taken... made my job so much easier. I love that slightly ornery smile.

cutie patooty

This is Jalas. She is so stinkin' cute, I can hardly get over it. I've been doing shots of her every 3 months-- fun to see how much she changes. She's so smiley. These are her 9 month photos.

Then comes marriage...

The wedding: ISU at the MU

So. Much. Fun.
Hilarious wedding party. Fantastically beautiful wedding and bride.

First comes love...

She said "yes" and therefore, they needed engagement pictures. This is my cousin Kim and her, then fiance, Eric. Seriously, could they be ANY cuter! My word. We wandered Des Moines for hours one evening shooting tons and tons of pictures. It was so hard for me to pick my favorites for the blog- because I love them all. I could not be happier for these two. Kim is an amazing girl and she found this incredibly sweet, funny guy who is absolutely perfect for her and treats her like a queen. You really can't get a bad picture of these 2; they're naturals.
